This test detects the presence of Bence Jones protein in the urine. Bence Jones proteins are found in specific types of antibodies that fight infection. When by a genetic mistake these antibodies (monoclonal antibodies) are formed in large numbers the body loses the ability to fight infection and these proteins then start to be excreted by the kidneys.
